Viroqua Skate Park

A New Beginning
   The local group of skateboarding, rollerblading and BMX biking supporters began an effort about six years ago to create a skate park in Viroqua. They raised $4,500 through donations, fundraising and a grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation. The City of Viroqua also purchased a piece of property adjacent to the Park Bowl (just west of the softball field on South Street, sometimes referred to as the "Morrison Property") to locate the skate park.
   Although the initial effort did not result in creation of the skate park, a new group of volunteers took up the cause in 2007, and with a donation of $5,000 from the City of Viroqua, began fundraising to turn the dream into a reality.
   The new group has raised $36,000 so far for a total of $46,000 in the equipment fund. The group is now drawing up the final design for the skate park which is expected to cost about $65,000, excluding the concrete pad.
   Site preparation began last summer and the concrete pad is scheduled to be poured this spring. The equipment is scheduled to be installed in June. If the $65,000 total has not been raised by June, then a first phase of equipment will be installed in June with additional equipment being added as the money is raised.
   There will be no admission charge to the new park and it will be open to skateboarding, rollerblading and BMX style bikes.

The final design is still being tweaked at present by the skate park organizers and local skaters, but a preliminary version of the final design is shown below.

How You Can Help Make it Happen -- Participate, Donate & Stay Informed
   The Viroqua Skate Park Committee has put together a multi-phase plan to create a skate park at the Park Bowl in Viroqua using donations, grants and community fundraisers. Everyone can help with this effort either through donations or through participation in one of the many fundraising events. All of these events will be promoted within the community and posted on this website.
