Park opened in the summer of 2008...

The Viroqua Skate Park officially opened on Saturday night, July 19. About 30 local skaters tried out the new ramps and rails that evening.
The skate park is located on South Street on the southwest corner of the Park Bowl. The images below show the Current Installation and the Final Design. Skate park supporters need to raise another $14,000 to purchase the remaining equipment in the Final Design, which includes the halfpipe, so fundraising efforts will continue despite the opening of the skate park.
There is no admission charge to the new park and it is open to skateboarding, rollerblading and BMX style bikes.  The park is open from 8:30 am to dusk.

Viroqua Skate Park Background
The local group of skateboarding, rollerblading and BMX biking supporters began an effort about 7 years ago to create a skate park in Viroqua. They raised $4,500 through donations, fundraising and a grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation. The City of Viroqua also purchased a piece of property adjacent to the Park Bowl (just west of the softball field on South Street, sometimes referred to as the "Morrison Property") to locate the skate park.
Although the initial effort did not result in creation of the skate park, a new group of volunteers took up the cause in 2007, and with a donation of $5,000 from the City of Viroqua, began fundraising to turn the dream into a reality. The new group raised $40,000 over the next year for a total of $50,000 in the equipment fund, over 3/4ths of the way to the $64,000 goal.
The concrete pad was poured on July 1 and the first round of equipment was installed on the week of July 14.
